What it's really like to live in Herndon
Herndon is an incorporated town in northwestern Fairfax County, about 25 miles west of Washington, DC, and just minutes from Dulles International Airport. Its historic downtown grew up around a 19th century railroad depot, and that same rail corridor is now the W&OD Trail, which runs right through the town green. Around it you will find local restaurants, breweries, and a Thursday farmers market, all within a few walkable blocks.
Herndon blends that small-town core with the convenience of the Dulles Technology Corridor, where many of the region's largest employers are based. Two Silver Line Metro stations serve the area, making car-free trips to Reston, Tysons, and DC easy. Housing options span 1960s and 1970s single-family neighborhoods, townhome communities, and newer condos near the Metro, giving buyers a wide range of price points.
